August 10th
I was in an airplane on my way to Denver. The stewardess had just finished saying, "...and your seat cushion can be used as a flotation device." I started clapping. A few of the people around me looked to me with peculiar looks on their faces. Then, thinking they had missed something, began to clap as well. The stewardess had to pause from her explanation until we were done clapping. This was the best day of my life.
December 4th
I am in Class at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I am feeling mischeivious during my boring Economics lecture. I awaited the correct line from my teacher before issuing the clap. Then it came: "I am having sugery on tuesday." I clapped. Other students quickly chimed in with obnoxious grins.
January 18th
I was attending a high school basketball game. Over the loud speaker they announced: "The cheerleading squad will not be attending next week's game due to an injury." It was absurd how many other people clapped after I started it.
January 23rd
At Spirit Mountain Ski Lodge. I'm outside putting my skis on. Over the intercom they announce. "The soup of the day today is Brocolli and Chedder." The dull slaps of my gloves were soon accompanied by all of my friends. Other skiers just looked at us with pity.
